Neighbors

I don't have a picture to share but a story of great generosity. My dear neighbor wanted to return the favor of keeping kids. She has always been an advocate for my kids- extending invites to basketball practices she coaches to swimming at a pool she was employed as a life guard. She called and offered to keep the boys and we agreed for Sat. morning so that I could go to the Dallas Bead Society meeting that I have longed to attend ( for almost a year). I told her that I would need to be back by 2 to take my boys to a cousin's 4th birthday party. She offered to take them to that too. Then I said that I still needed to buy the gift ( I had procrastinated thinking I had all day Saturday), she offered to do that too so that I could enjoy the day with no pressure! That was music to my ears, never have I had such a generous offer. She also offered to keep them for the one Sat. a month for future DBS meetings. What a Doll! I am truly blessed because this is one more step in a greater plan for ministry. The doors were opened just as Pastor said they would be. Many things have been set into motion from being able to attend these meetings and Pure JOY, has taken over.
Folks keep your eyes on Him, stay your minds on the word, stand still and know that HE is God! He will turn you night into day, give you beauty for ashes, and trade your sorrows for the joy of the Lord. He loved us while we were yet still sinners, not perfect but totally flawed!

How lovely for you to have a break from the kids .You are blessed to have such a kind Neighbour. I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and my friend is having the kids ,I'm really looking forward .The best of us deserve a break now and then .Love from sesga xx

Beginning again.

I feel as if I am beginning again. However, I have so many things in place from when I really first began this creative journey. I am beginning again, but I am not starting from scratch. The trials of the past have given me perseverance I had not idea I possessed. I am still recovering from a major life change but I am allowing my life to become better and trying very hard to not become bitter... I am finding that I am not having to try so hard at it lately. I have hope. I have a new vision. I have wisdom to stop and pray. I have Grace. I have Mercy. And most of all, I have love. I have the love of so many sweet supporters and friends and family. People who constantly encourage me and remind me of why I create. Why I love to teach people. Why I get out of bed each morning. I have a commitment to stop and spend time with God and meditate each day with him on the creative process he has called me to. I want to thank everyone for your kind comments on "Effy' whether here or by email. I also want to thank everyone who has been encouraging me to pursue the many facets of beading as an art and a business. Who would have thought one thing could be so fulfilling in so many different facets. The result of having such encouraging friends is the developement of my very first pattern and kit. Doll Journey: Focus

 After trying to work on the arms a few times, I did not like what I saw. It was not the right texture and  I realized that the mixes needed to be refined a little. I can do that, and I can find the right texture too. But  I decided that I just need to focus on what is really driving this doll, the flames. The idea is to stitch the shaped memory wire onto the fabric, bead it then cut around the edges. After all of that is done I may decide to paint the backside instead of beading it. Then I will attach it to the doll--and shoot myself in the foot for adding another element that will make beading the rest of the doll a nightmare. Maybe not...I don't have a really good track record for taking the easy way out...so maybe. Here is a small mock up that set me to stitching. I learned how to do this (only she does it much better!) from  Susan Elliot .
